September 19, 1985 – September 19, 2017
On the day of the 1985 earthquake anniversary of 1985, Mexico found itself in a vicious game of fate to face the horror of the damage of a natural calamity that has shaken the earth for more than two endless minutes.
The earthquake had two epicenter, one in Puebla and the other in Morelos, but he also damaged and died in Mexico City.
I covered the breaking news for the agencies, and I could choose to show the pictures of the damage and pain, but I preferred to focus on something extremely positive: the great strength and solidarity of the Mexicans.
Through this consideration I have concentrated my work on dignity, the community spirit, the solidarity between the unhealthy ones that are united in pain, in the tragedy. With the intention of avoiding easy photography, avoiding to propose the theater of pain. Because what I have seen and lived is above all the desire for immediate redemption, the desire to overcome this emergency as soon as possible, saving as many lives as possible.
The after earthquake is altogether represented by people, strength, dignity, and even the enthusiasm of solidarity. Volunteers and civil protection, all Mexicans have come together to provide relief and help to the less fortunate of this terrible event.
Through the pictures I think it is clear that the strength of Mexico is the Mexicans.
